Gump's Corporate Team is Honored as "Team of the Year" at the 2012 Legal Business Awards
Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP, a prominent international law firm, has left its mark in the legal industry by winning the coveted 'Corporate Team of the Year' award at the Legal Business Awards 2012. This is the first time a law firm not part of the U.K.'s 'Magic Circle' has won this award in over a decade.
The award follows the firm's receipt of the 'Emerging Markets Law Firm of the Year' award at the Financial Times Innovative Lawyers Awards 2011. The Legal Business Awards recognize outstanding work from across the legal profession, and this year's ceremony was held in London last night.
The firm was nominated for the award based on its successful advice to VimpelCom in acquiring Wind Telecom. The acquisition, which closed in April 2011, created the world's sixth-largest mobile telecommunications carrier by subscribers, operating in 20 countries.
The London-based team advising VimpelCom was led by corporate partner Dan Walsh and included several partners, counsel, associates, and litigation/arbitration partners from both London and New York.
