Heritage at Old Town Redevelopment Project to Install Tower Crane on Aug. 18

The Heritage at Old Town redevelopment project is set to take a significant step forward on Monday, Aug. 18, with the installation of a tower crane. Despite the construction activity, Wilkes Park will remain open to the public, allowing residents to observe the process from a safe distance.

The crane installation, scheduled from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., may extend if necessary. Two mobile cranes will assist in erecting the tower crane. Parking on the affected block will be prohibited from midnight Aug. 18 through midnight Aug. 19 to ensure safety during the operation.

The project, which broke ground on June 18 with Mayor Alyia Gaskins, Jair Lynch Real Estate Partners President and CEO Jair Lynch, and community members in attendance, is a three-phase redevelopment. Phase 1, currently underway at Block 4, will feature 310 apartment homes with extensive amenities, including rooftop terraces, a courtyard pool, and two levels of underground parking. The architectural design for the project was developed by Graziani + Corazza Architects.

The Heritage at Old Town redevelopment project, purchased by Jair Lynch Real Estate Partners in December 2021, aims to provide affordable housing. It includes 140 apartments for families eligible for the federal Housing Assistance Program and an additional 10 units for Housing Choice Voucher Program participants. Upon completion, the project will offer a total of 598 apartment units.
