The fourth annual CiTTi Awards will be held on 25 November 2025 at De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms in London, recognizing achievements and innovations in sustainable transport. Meanwhile, closer to home, a significant development is taking place in East Lancashire.

In a move that aims to ensure no disruption to existing travel arrangements, a new hospital shuttle bus service is set to begin operation on April 1, 2025. The service, supported by Blackburn with Darwen Council and Lancashire County Council, will be operated by Moving People Bus and Coach Services.

The new service will be a direct route between the Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital and Burnley General Teaching Hospital, benefiting patients, visitors, and staff at the Trust. The route will include stops in both Blackburn and Burnley town centers.

Burnley MP, Oliver Ryan, is pleased with the quick delivery of a transport operator for the hospital shuttle bus route. Moving People, a bus and coach company established in 2007, provides transport across East Lancashire, including public bus services, coach hire, and luxury UK coach tours.

The new service will operate from 6am to 8.30pm, initially running from Monday to Friday. A review will be conducted once the service is operational to consider an expansion over the weekend.

It's important to note that this new service is not a replacement for the existing service funded by East Lancashire Hospitals. Instead, it is a separate service operated by Moving People, intended to begin as the existing service is closing.

The exact details of the fares and schedules for the new service have not been disclosed. However, the company has submitted papers to formally register the hospital shuttle bus route.

The new hospital shuttle bus service does not appear to be connected to the deployment of Yunex's traffic solution mentioned in a separate article.
