HSBC designates a new leader for its Investments and Managed Solutions division on a global scale.
In a significant move, HSBC has announced the appointment of Sami Abouzahr as the global head of Investments and Managed Solutions for Wealth and Premier Solutions. Abouzahr, who currently serves as the head of Wealth and Premier Solutions in Hong Kong, will now operate out of Hong Kong and oversee the bank's global wealth product strategy.
With a career spanning senior roles across HSBC's operations in Hong Kong, mainland China, and the UK, Abouzahr brings a wealth of experience in wealth management, asset management, and wholesale banking. Lavanya Chari, the head of Wealth and Premier Solutions at HSBC, expressed her confidence in Abouzahr's ability to continue instilling a client-centric ethos when developing and delivering innovative solutions.
Chari also believes that Abouzahr's appointment will reinforce the implementation of market insights to guide clients in accessing investment opportunities. In an uncertain market, HSBC advises clients to diversify their investment portfolios, a strategy that Abouzahr is expected to uphold.
Under Abouzahr's leadership, the bank's global wealth product strategy will focus on several key areas. Sustainable investment options will be emphasised, aligning with the growing demand for environmentally and socially responsible financial products. Discretionary portfolio management, based on individual financial goals and risk tolerance, will ensure personalised investment strategies.
There is also a strong emphasis on alternative investments, driven by the increasing appetite among affluent investors for higher-return, lower-correlation assets such as private market funds and hedge funds. Abouzahr will also lead the ultra-high net worth solutions group, aiming to provide seamless financial experiences for ultra-high net worth individuals, families, and entrepreneurs worldwide.
In a related development, HSBC Global Private Banking recently appointed Ann Ling as the regional head of wealth planning and advisory for the Asia Pacific region. Ling, who has over 20 years of experience in the financial services industry, has worked at J.P. Morgan, UBS, Morgan Stanley, and Ernst & Young (EY).
