In a bid to enhance the quality of stay in Münster's Old Town, the city council has approved new breaking news parking regulations for Drubbel, Spiekerhof, Roggenmarkt, and Bogenstraße, effective from September 22nd, 2024. The decision, made on June 19th, was a collaborative effort between the Kiepenkerl e.V. neighborhood association, the Mobility and Infrastructure Department, the Ordnance Office, and Münster Marketing. The new news parking order will eliminate 23 paid parking spaces and their associated fees, making room for a pick-up and drop-off zone, marked with restricted parking signs. Access restrictions are already in place from Rothenburg for the Drubbel and Roggenmarkt areas. As part of the changes, mobile warning signs at Drubbel and Bogenstraße will inform the public about the impending alterations from September 22nd. In addition to these changes, the city is considering creating additional bike parking and planting greenery to further improve the Old Town's appeal. After an adjustment period, the city will assess the new traffic regulations based on local needs. It's worth noting that parking spaces for individuals with mobility impairments, delivery services, healthcare providers, and similar services will remain. The city of Münster is gradually reducing on-street parking at the specified locations to promote a more pedestrian-friendly environment. The city encourages residents and visitors to familiarise themselves with the new parking regulations and adjust their travel plans accordingly.
