Increase in grain exports exceeds 58%

Kazakhstan's grain exports have experienced a significant boost, with a record-breaking increase of 58.4% between September 2024 and July 10, 2025. This surge, totalling approximately 9.3 million tons, has been primarily driven by a larger-than-average harvest, expanded trade and transport infrastructure, and strong demand from regional countries and China.

The increase in grain export volumes demonstrates the effectiveness of measures to modernize logistics infrastructure and expand the geography of supplies. Key factors contributing to this growth include record wheat production, estimated at 16.5 million tons, a 26% rise over the previous year due to better yields.

Infrastructure development and the creation of international transport corridors have facilitated smoother trade with neighbouring regions, allowing Kazakhstan to recover market share from Russia in Central Asia and around the Caspian Sea. A temporary wheat import ban in August 2024 stabilised domestic prices and encouraged exporting excess stock.

The shift in export destinations compared to the previous year shows a significant realignment and diversification of export markets. Central Asian countries remain primary export destinations, but grain exports are increasingly reaching new markets such as Vietnam via innovative transit routes.

Notable increases were seen in exports to Uzbekistan (32.8%), Tajikistan (45.8%), Afghanistan (46% to 49.2%), Kyrgyzstan (94% to 96%), Iran (17.5-fold increase), and Azerbaijan (116 to 118.8-fold increase). The export volume to Vietnam, via China by rail, marked the first shipment of this kind.

The Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan has acknowledged the increase in export volumes, attributing it to the effectiveness of measures to expand the geography of supplies and modernize logistics infrastructure. The high demand for Kazakh grain on international markets is confirmed by the increase in export volumes.

This grain export volume represents a 58.4% increase compared to the same period in 2023-2024. The information about the increased grain export volumes was provided by National Company "Kazakhstan Temir Zholy". The increase in grain export volumes was reported by our site, citing the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The increase in grain export volumes, reaching approximately 9.3 million tons, showcases the effectiveness of measures to modernize logistics infrastructure and expand the geography of supplies in Kazakhstan's agriculture industry. This growth, driven by record wheat production and strong demand from various countries, including China, has also facilitated smoother finance transactions within the business sector.
