🚂 RZD Expands Train Capacity as Air Travel Faces Challenges 🛫

In a move to cater to the needs of travelers hit by flight disruptions, Russian Railways (RZD) is rolling out more seats on various trains. With limitations in air communication, RZD is set to offer around 5,000 additional seats from May 7 to 12.

Trains on high-demand routes such as Moscow - St. Petersburg - Moscow, Adler - Moscow, Kazan - Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod - Moscow, and others will see added carriages to accommodate these extra passengers. Interestingly, RZD assures there's no shortage of train tickets at the moment.

Recently, restrictions in the operation of airports in central Russia on May 6 and 7 due to drone threats affected around 60,000 passengers, as per the Association of Tour Operators of Russia. These disruptions led to over 150 flight cancellations at Moscow's aviation hub, with an average delay time of 2 hours for arrivals and 1.5 hours for departures.

However, the situation has seemingly improved, as reported by Rosaviation, with airline operations in the regions stabilizing. Most airports have reasonable traffic flow, though some still face delays of over two hours due to tardy aircraft arrivals. These delays have disrupted around 2,200 passengers waiting for flights from airports in Samara, Ufa, and Yekaterinburg, as per a Rosaviation representative. The airports experiencing the most schedule deviations include Sochi with 16 flights and Kazan with 11 flights. The Ministry of Transport anticipates that airports in the Moscow region will resume their regular schedules by 18:00 Moscow time.
