J.M. Smucker's Marketing Head Steps Down, Aims for Retirement

J.M. Smucker Co. Announces Chief Marketing Officer's Retirement and Search for Successor

The J.M. Smucker Co., a renowned American food and beverage company, has announced that its current Chief Marketing Officer (CMO), Gail Hollander, will be retiring in April 2026. A search for her successor is currently underway, with no specific individual named for the role as of mid-2025.

Hollander, who joined the company in 2023, has been instrumental in building Smucker's brand-building model. Under her leadership, the company has developed a powerful marketing organization that has supported the growth of many of its iconic brands.

Prior to joining Smucker, Hollander worked at Publicis Group for 20 years, culminating in a role as president and group client lead. Her experience and expertise have undeniably contributed to Smucker's success.

Mark Smucker, CEO and Chair of the J.M. Smucker Co., expressed gratitude for Hollander's contributions, stating, "Gail has been instrumental in building our brand-building model and developing a powerful marketing organization. We are grateful for her leadership and the impact she has had on our company."

Gail Hollander, in turn, expressed pride in the impact of her team on the company's brands. She stated, "I am proud of the work we have done to build and grow these iconic brands, and I am confident that the J.M. Smucker Co. is well-positioned to continue building brands that consumers love."

In other news, Smucker reported a dip in net sales of 3% in the fourth quarter that ended on April 30, but a rise of 7% for the full fiscal year. The company announced in the summer that it will remove FD&C colors from all of its consumer food products by the end of 2027.

Meanwhile, in the world of food production, Dr. Praeger's appointed a new Head of Supply Chain, who previously worked at Kraft/Mondelēz. Additionally, Krasdale Foods made executive moves, with new appointments and expanded roles revealed across its key divisions.

In a separate development, Acme Smoked Fish has promoted Rob Snyder to be its new CEO, as current CEO Eduardo Carbajosa is set to retire. Furthermore, Misfits Market's senior director discussed the process of starting an own brand from scratch, being the leader in upcycled certified products, collaborative supplier partnerships, and more.

As the search for Hollander's successor continues, the J.M. Smucker Co. remains optimistic about its future. The company is well-positioned to continue building brands that consumers love, with enhanced capabilities throughout their businesses and teams.

The J.M. Smucker Co.'s search for a new Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) presents an opportunity for a private label professional with a keen understanding of finance and business who can continue building Brand-building models and marketing organizations, as demonstrated by Gail Hollander's tenure. Such a candidate might find the prospect of shaping careers in this thriving business environment appealing.

Meanwhile, the upcoming change in leadership brings a time to evaluate and strengthen the company's supply chain, given the growing concerns for responsible sourcing and sustainability across various food brands and industries.
