Kazakh Man Duped in 60M Tenge Internet Fraud Scheme
A man in Kazakhstan has fallen victim to a sophisticated internet speed test fraud scheme, resulting in losses of over 60 million tenge. The victim, enticed by an online ad, secured a 1,625,000 tenge goods credit and persuaded two acquaintances to take out additional test credits totaling over 5,000,000 tenge. The money was then transferred to 10 third-party accounts.
Cyberpolice are currently conducting a pre-trial investigation into the internet speed test fraud. They have identified drop-offs and organizers involved in the scheme. The victim's two acquaintances, who helped secure the loans, remain unnamed at this time. This incident is part of a larger trend, with about 20 regional residents falling victim to similar internet speed test fraud last week.
The investigation into this internet speed test fraud case is ongoing, with cyberpolice working to identify and apprehend those responsible. The total damages from this incident alone exceed 60 million tenge, highlighting the importance of caution when engaging with online financial services.
