Kazakhstan Launches Month-Long Elderly Support Campaign
Kazakhstan has kicked off a month-long campaign honouring the Day of the Elderly. The initiative, which began on October 1, aims to support the nation's over 2.5 million pensioners. Regional governors and enterprise leaders are stepping in to provide social assistance.
The campaign, which will run until October 31, includes meetings in work collectives and open door days in outpatient clinics. Since January 1, solidarity pensions have seen an 8.5% increase. By 2025, the minimum and maximum base pension sizes are set to reach 70% and 110% of the living wage, respectively.
To ensure the campaign's success, regional governors, enterprise leaders, and organization heads are providing direct social support to elderly residents. In 2025 alone, local budgets have allocated 7.5 billion tenge for the operation of 127 active longevity centres.
The campaign is a significant step towards improving the lives of Kazakhstan's elderly population. With increased pensions and dedicated social support, the nation is showing its commitment to caring for its senior citizens.
