The Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) held its annual summer forum this week in Gyeongju, North Gyeongsang Province, with a focus on the upcoming Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit and the APEC CEO Summit, both scheduled to take place in Gyeongju in approximately 100 days.

The forum, which is one of the largest economic gatherings in South Korea, serves as an opportunity to address preparations for the APEC CEO Summit, a significant event expected to bring together leaders from 21 member economies and over 1,700 global CEOs. The event aims to showcase the strength and potential of the Korean economy and foster connections and cooperation among global companies.

The decision to hold the forum in Gyeongju, instead of its usual venue on Jeju Island, is aimed at securing public interest and support for the upcoming APEC events. Gyeongju, being the historic host city for both summits, provides an ideal location for inspecting preparations and promoting the significance of the APEC summit being hosted there.

Additionally, the KCCI, as the official host of the APEC CEO Summit, uses the forum to promote Korean industry capabilities and innovation on an international stage ahead of the event. The forum, which runs until Saturday, is being held at the Lahan Select Hotel in Gyeongju and is attended by approximately 500 corporate executives, businesspeople, and policymakers.

The KCCI's annual summer forum is part of a series of events aimed at promoting economic growth and fostering connections between businesses in South Korea and the wider Asia-Pacific region. By leveraging these events as both a historic political milestone and a global economic showcase, Korea aims to strengthen its position as a key player in the region.
