Kolyma Provided Funding for Larger Families to Cover Mortgage Obligations
In the Magadan region of Russia, large families are eligible for financial assistance to help repay their mortgages, as part of a government initiative aimed at improving housing conditions and supporting demographic growth.
The Magadan region, along with several other Far Eastern regions, offers 1 million rubles for mortgage repayment upon the birth of a third child or subsequent children. To apply for this support measure, families can submit their application through the Gosuslugi portal.
To be eligible for this assistance, families must meet certain criteria. They must be legally recognized as a large family, with three or more children. The mortgage must be registered and active in the Magadan Oblast, and the family must be registered or resident in the region. Proof of financial need or inability to repay might be required, given the economic strains on mortgage debt in Russia.
The application process involves submitting the necessary documentation to a local government body or regional social protection agency. Required documents generally include proof of large family status, mortgage agreement, income statements, identification documents, and residence registration.
Financial compensation or partial reimbursement of mortgage payments, interest rate subsidies or restructuring assistance, and possible eligibility for enhanced maternity capital or other child-related benefits that can be applied toward mortgage repayment are among the support measures available.
United Russia, the ruling political party with branches in Magadan, supports family and mortgage aid programs, which may influence regional implementations. The Russian President, Vladimir Putin, has instructed the introduction of additional support measures for large families in Far Eastern regions where the birth rate of the third child or subsequent children in 2023 was below the average for the Far East, including the Magadan region.
To get precise information for the Magadan region, it is best to contact the Magadan Regional Ministry of Social Protection or equivalent authority responsible for family and housing support. Checking local government websites or hotlines that administer social benefits and consulting the regional branch of the Russian Pension Fund, as they often manage social subsidies, can also provide helpful information.
Since the introduction of this program, over 2,000 families have received funds totaling over 800 million rubles across Russia. An additional 536.3 million rubles will be allocated for the continuation of this program in 2025. The average processing time for the funds is 10 days, and the application needs to be printed, signed, scanned, and submitted through the personal cabinet of the Gosuslugi portal.
These measures aim to improve the quality of life, enhance the demographic situation, and support large families in the Far East. The Prime Minister emphasized that parents creating large families should have the opportunity to improve their housing conditions. After approval, the money for mortgage repayment will be transferred directly to the creditor.
