Lidl has rejected the accusations, explaining that the figure of 500 refers to the number of individual articles reduced in Germany. Two-thirds of the reduced products saw a price drop of between 0 and 10 percent.
The advertising campaign includes both nationwide and regional price adjustments. After Lidl's announcement, other major retailers followed suit and adjusted their prices as well.
