The Lebensader Lux project, a significant urban development initiative, has made significant strides in Hermühlheim, with construction work progressing faster than expected on Luxembourg Street.

The project, sponsored by the Landschaftsverband Rheinland (LVR), aims to make Luxembourg Street more attractive and livable. As part of this endeavour, the canal construction between AOK Street and Severinus Street has commenced, extending the length of the construction zone.

The construction work encompasses several phases, with the entire project scheduled to continue until the fall of 2029. The canal construction is just one aspect of the project, with other developments including the creation of a traffic-calmed zone between Bonn Street and Horbeller Street, featuring greenery and a high-quality stay.

Two roundabouts will replace the intersections on Luxembourg Street, and the section between these roundabouts will be designated as a bike street, with a maximum speed limit of 30 km/h. This emphasis on cycling infrastructure is supported by additional funding from the Federal Ministry of Digital and Transport and the Federal Office for Logistics and Mobility (BALM), amounting to an additional 171,600 euros for the bike street.

Further funding for the project comes from the NRW State Ministry for Environment, Nature Conservation and Transport, as well as the NRW State Ministry for Home Affairs, Local Government, Building and Digitalization. In total, the project has received funding of 7,971,413 euros from these sources.

For transparent updates on the project's progress, a dedicated webpage is available. It's important to note that temporary parking spaces in the construction area will be unavailable during this time. Access regulations in the Horbeller Street to AOK Street area between 18:00 and 9:00 remain in effect.

Luxembourg Street remains accessible in both directions between Bonn Street and AOK Street, ensuring that the local community and visitors can continue to navigate the area during the construction period. The team working on the Lebensader Lux project remains committed to delivering a vibrant and inviting streetscape for all to enjoy in the coming years.
