Linde Expands Green Hydrogen Production in Saxony-Anhalt
Linde is expanding its green hydrogen production in Saxony-Anhalt. The company is building a new alkaline electrolyzer in Leuna, backed by a 4.3 million euro grant from the state. This project will significantly boost the region's green hydrogen news output and reduce emissions.
The new 5-megawatt electrolyzer will complement Linde's existing 24 MW electrolyzer in Leuna. Once operational by the end of 2026, it will produce 450 tons of hydrogen annually for regional chemical industry customers. This will save more than 4,500 tons of greenhouse gas emissions per year by replacing fossil fuels.
The planned electrolyzer will use regeneratively generated electricity, further enhancing its environmental credentials. The project is part of Linde's ongoing expansion in the region. Currently, the installed electrolyzer capacity for green hydrogen production in Saxony-Anhalt stands at around 60 megawatts, set to increase with Linde's latest news.
The 4.3 million euro funding for this project comes from the European Fund for Regional Development (EFRE) under the 'Saxony-Anhalt ENERGY FUTURES' program. Upon completion, the new electrolyzer will significantly contribute to the region's green hydrogen news and decarbonization efforts.
