Majority of Russians express desire to launch businesses on online marketplaces.
A staggering 27% of Russians are exploring the idea of becoming online sellers, with another 48% expressing openness to the prospect in the future, according to a survey by "RWB Research" among Wildberries buyers, featuring 1500 participants.
"Interestingly, 76% of these respondents are not just looking to enter any marketplace, but specifically Wildberries," pointed out Anna Averina, director of the client experience and service department at RVB.
In response to this budding interest in selling, Wildberries has unveiled an all-inclusive, step-by-step guide for new sellers on the platform, helping them navigate the personal cabinet process, from filling out essential details to closing their first sale. Averina went on to elaborate that this onboarding program empowers sellers to choose a work scheme and supply model that suits their interests.
When it comes to training resources, Averina assures us that the onboarding process is accompanied by helpful articles and comprehensive courses designed to address every potential query a new seller might have.
Curious about potential sales volumes on the platform, many respondents mentioned expected monthly turnovers ranging from 200,000 rubles to savvier entrepreneurs anticipating up to 1 million rubles or more.
Individuals are motivated to start selling on the platform for various reasons: the chance to secure additional income (46%), independence from a boss (42%), and flexible work schedules (31%). Fascinatingly, the idea of embracing entreprenuership in collaboration with the marketplace inspires 25% of Russians, and 23% find attraction in the opportunity to start a business with minimal investment.
It's worth noting that only 5% of survey participants have taken part in specialized seminars or online courses from marketplace experts.
