Mayor enacts stricter supervision on city buses
In the city of Yakutsk, authorities have taken steps to enhance the safety and efficiency of public transport services, following a tragic incident that occurred on August 4.
On that fateful day, Bus No.25, carrying shift workers, fell off a 25-meter cliff in Yakutia, resulting in multiple fatalities. This incident has led to a criminal case related to the provision of unsafe services.
Eduard Sadovnikov, head of the Yakutsk City Road and Transport Service, announced that comprehensive checks will be conducted to ensure the presence and functionality of video recorders on route buses. However, specific details regarding the impact on bus routes No.25, 18, 5, and No.2 were not provided.
Today, Route No.25 in Yakutsk operates with seven units of buses. The incident on August 4 disrupted the service, with only one bus operating instead of the scheduled three, due to health issues of two drivers and a technical malfunction.
