Mechanical workshop of Martin John honored for environmental safeguards and climate conservation efforts
In the heart of Bavaria, the Martin John Mechanical Workshop in Fürth has once again demonstrated its commitment to environmental protection and sustainability by recertifying in the Bavarian Environmental Pact.
Established in 1970, this specialist in the CNC milling and turning sector has been a proud member of the pact since 2021. The workshop, which focuses on the machining of parts, has consistently met the criteria of the Bavarian Craftsmen's Day (50-point program) and continues to strive for a climate-neutral production process.
The Bavarian Environmental Pact, a cooperative initiative between the Bavarian state government and the economy, aims for economically compatible and socially balanced environmental and climate protection that promotes innovation and serves as a model for others. Over 1,600 companies in Bavaria, including 20 in the district of Fuerth, are part of this initiative, making it a significant force in the region's efforts towards sustainability.
District Administrator Bernd Obst presented the certificate to Martin John Mechanical Workshop at the Zirndorf district office, congratulating the workshop on their achievement. Obst emphasized the importance of energy efficiency, energy savings, and the use of renewable energies for the district, as stated in their sustainability strategy.
One of the key factors contributing to Martin John Mechanical Workshop's certification is their extensive use of renewable energy sources. Most of the energy used by the workshop is generated by a photovoltaic system, while a wood chip system provides heat for the workshop. The workshop also uses 100% biomass for heating purposes.
In addition to these measures, Martin John Mechanical Workshop has implemented several practices to reduce its environmental footprint. These include the use of washable reusable cleaning cloths, reusable transport packaging, LED lighting, and company bicycles.
Participation in the Bavarian Environmental Pact is free of charge and possible at any time. For those interested in joining, further detailed information can be found on the pact's homepage (www.umweltpakt.bayern.de). The regional and economic development of the district of Fuerth is available for further information at [email protected].
The CEO of Martin John Mechanical Workshop emphasized that sustainable production is a top priority for the company. By continually striving for environmental and climate pact achievements, they hope to inspire other businesses in the region to follow suit. The Bavarian Environmental Pact, with its focus on voluntary participation, personal responsibility, and cooperative interaction between the state and the economy at all levels, provides a platform for such initiatives.
