Meeting spot in Hasborn up for grabs for €10,000, with the Ministry backing the initiative for volunteer projects
In the picturesque town of Hasborn-Dautweiler, Saarland, a new project is taking shape—a multi-generational community center that promises to be a hub of social interaction, support, and engagement for residents of all ages.
The brainchild of the local community, the project has garnered the support of the Ministry for the Environment, Climate, Mobility, Agriculture, and Consumer Protection in Saarland. State Secretary Sebastian Thul recently visited SV Rot-Weiß Hasborn to present a grant award of 10,000 euros, contributing to the total eligible funding of 22,418.25 euros for the project.
The community center, which is being built near the "Waldstadion" Hasborn and utilizes its infrastructure, will serve as a place for encounter and exchange. It will complement existing facilities, including a boules court and an artificial turf sports field, both of which have been implemented with the ministry's support.
The unique selling point of this community center is the design of a Calisthenics field—an open-air physical exercise area using one's own body weight. This innovative addition to the center demonstrates the strong community spirit in Hasborn-Dautweiler, as well as the creativity and voluntary commitment of its residents.
The Calisthenics field has been developed and expanded since 2019, and the entire implementation of the project is being done on a voluntary basis. The remaining 12,418.25 euros are to be covered largely by donations.
State Secretary Thul praised the efforts of the Hasborn-Dautweiler residents, emphasizing the ministry's support for a place for conversation. He highlighted that this project aligns with the ministry's broader mandate to support sustainable and socially responsible projects, promoting environmental sustainability, social sustainability, and the well-being of residents.
The ministry's sponsorship program for the environment, climate, mobility, agriculture, and consumer protection is an integral part of its efforts to create resilient, connected communities. By funding this center, the Ministry is fostering social sustainability through community-building efforts, recognising that environmental goals are interlinked with healthy, inclusive communities and responsible consumer behaviour.
For those interested in sponsorship opportunities in rural development, further information can be found on the ministry's website. The Hasborn-Dautweiler community center is a shining example of what can be achieved when a community comes together with a shared vision and the support of forward-thinking institutions like the Ministry for the Environment, Climate, Mobility, Agriculture, and Consumer Protection in Saarland.
