Modifications in Pforzheimer Public Transportation Services Beginning Monday
In the heart of Mannheim, several temporary changes are underway as part of ongoing construction and renovation projects affecting bus operations. Here's what you need to know.
Starting from May 1, 2025, the closure of the "Alte Bürger" street for through traffic has led to adjustments in several bus lines, including 504, 505, 506, and Night Bus Moon-Liner (ML). Instead of their usual routes, buses now operate from the stop near "W.-Becké-Platz," detouring via "Am Gitter," "Barkhausenstraße," and "Querstraße" to "M.-Donandt-Platz." Additionally, bus stops in "Barkhausenstraße" like "Am Gitter" and "Neuer Hafen" are being served during this period.
Regarding Bahnhofstraße, partial road closure due to bridge construction work took effect in August 2025. While specifics on bus rerouting there are not yet fully detailed, this partial closure implies bus routes using Bahnhofstraße are likely disrupted or altered to accommodate the construction.
As for the Wilhelm-Becker-Straße bus stop, the renovation project at the "Schwabengarage" car dealership on Wilferdinger Height is set to begin on September 11, 2023. This renovation aims to create a barrier-free bus stop, with both sides of the bus stop to be converted to curb-side bus stops using "Kasseler special curb stones." The city expects the work to be completed by the end of October.
During the closure, access from Wilhelm-Becker-Straße to Mannheim Street will be rerouted via Karlsruhe Street, as previously mentioned. Unfortunately, the "Wilhelm-Becker-Straße" bus stop will not be usable during the entire construction period. The replacement bus stop for lines 6 and 11 is "Tannhoferweg."
Meanwhile, construction work on the "Bahnhofstraße" bus stop is expected to be completed by the end of September 11, 2023. Following this, bus lines 6 and the early buses that were rerouted during the construction project in Tiergartenstraße will return to their regular routes. The "Bahnhofstraße" bus stop in the northern direction towards the main station will be moved 100 meters south, starting on September 11, 2023.
Traffic management adjustments will be made, including a full closure of Mannheim Street starting in early October. It's essential to check local transit provider announcements and official websites for precise timetable information and any subsequent updates. For up-to-date details, consult official transit websites or local municipal updates, especially closer to or during the impacted months.
