Mönchengladbach to Build 138 New Homes in New Quarter

Mönchengladbach is set to expand its residential offerings with a new quarter planned between the municipal cemetery Rheydt, Bachstraße, and Botzkuhlenweg. The city has revealed details of the project, which aims to create up to 138 new homes. The development, based on the winning design of an urban planning competition, will retain and integrate the existing green space in the western part of the site. This green area will feature an underground rainwater retention basin and a modern playground. The residential units will be a mix of semi-detached houses, row houses, and multi-family homes. The northern part of the area will mainly consist of semi-detached houses, while the southern part will have row and multi-family homes with an underground garage. Around 35 apartments will be created along Bachstraße, some in the renovated former administrative building of the textile factory, a listed heritage site. The private investor behind the project is the Wohnkompanie Mönchengladbach GmbH. In total, the development will add 11 residential units in a multi-family home at Botzkuhlenweg, 18 semi-detached house halves, 60 row houses, and around 35 apartments along Bachstraße. The project is expected to enhance the city's housing stock and contribute to its ongoing development.
