Multinational mining firm CNH joins forces with UN Global Compact Brazil network, aiming to promote sustainable farming practices.

CNH Industrial, a global leader in the agricultural and construction equipment industry, has taken a significant step towards sustainable development by joining the UN Global Compact Brazil Network. This move reinforces the company's commitment to advancing sustainable development goals locally, with a focus on SDG 2 (Zero Hunger and Sustainable Agriculture), SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), and SDG 13 (Climate Action).

As a member of the UN Global Compact Brazil Network, CNH aims to support SDGs 2, 12, and 13 through the Platform for Sustainable Agriculture. The platform, which focuses on these SDGs alongside SDG 3 (Health and Well-Being), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), is a crucial initiative in promoting sustainable agricultural practices in Brazil.

In addition to its involvement with the UN Global Compact Brazil Network, CNH is leveraging technology to drive sustainability in agriculture. One such example is the integration of satellite connectivity from SpaceX's Starlink, which enhances precision agriculture. This technology enables real-time data transmission, improving resource utilization and reducing waste in remote areas like Brazil.

CNH's broader strategy extends beyond Brazil, with initiatives like the "Drops of the Future" project, which uses precision technology to combat water scarcity. This project aligns with global sustainability goals and could inform similar initiatives in Brazil.

As a result of its commitment to sustainability, CNH has been recognized as a leader in ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) practices. The company ranks second in the electrical machinery and components category of the S&P Dow Jones Sustainability Index and is globally recognized for its ESG leadership, ranking in the top 5% in the S&P Global Sustainability Yearbook.

With brands such as Case IH and New Holland, CNH is not only a major player in the agricultural machinery industry but also a pioneer in sustainable agriculture. Rafael Miotto, President Latin America at CNH, stated that CNH takes the lead in facing today's challenges, underscoring the company's dedication to making a positive impact on the environment and society.

While the specific initiatives undertaken through the Platform for Sustainable Agriculture to support SDGs 2, 12, and 13 in Brazil are yet to be detailed, CNH's broader strategy and technology integration offer promising prospects for sustainable agriculture in Brazil. By improving agricultural productivity, reducing waste, and adopting practices that lower environmental impact, CNH is poised to contribute significantly to Brazil's sustainable development goals.

Science plays a crucial role in CNH's initiatives for sustainability, as it helps the company leverage technology to drive sustainable practices in the agricultural industry, such as the integration of satellite connectivity from SpaceX's Starlink for precision agriculture.

Investment in environmental-science and finance are essential for CNH's long-term focus on sustainable development goals, with the company aiming to contribute significantly to SDG 2 (Zero Hunger and Sustainable Agriculture), SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), and SDG 13 (Climate Action), both locally and globally.
