Multiple instances of congested roads noticed during the weekend.
Revised Version:
Hit the Brakes, Buddy: Let's spill the beans on some major traffic jams in Montreal and its neighborhood this upcoming weekend! Here's what you need to know, sans the bullcrap and fluff.
For starters, the Ville-Marie and Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine tunnels are gonna be out of commission for a substantial chunk of the weekend due to some serious renovations. Here’s the lowdown:
- Ville-Marie Tunnel: This puppy will be fully closed from Friday, 11:59 PM to Monday, 5:00 AM, between exit 5 and the rue du Fort access. Let's face it, motorists, steer clear of this area – the traffic is gonna be as thick as a Mrs. Fields chocolate chunk cookie!
- Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine Tunnel: In the northbound direction, it'll be closed from Saturday, 11:00 PM to Sunday, 9:00 AM, so they can get cracking on some pavement marking and other fun stuff. In the southbound direction, the tunnel will be closed between Montreal and route 132 in Longueuil from Saturday, 11:00 PM to Sunday, 9:00 AM.
Take note, gang: These closures are weather-dependent, and if old man Winter decides to make a comeback, Mobility Montreal might postpone the closure of Highway 25 in the South Shore direction, including the Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine tunnel, until Monday night.
In the Outaouais and Central Quebec regions, the Laviolette Bridge will witness two out of four lanes being shut down from Friday evening to Monday morning. In Montreal's Saint-Laurent borough, on Highway 117 southbound, one out of three lanes will be closed under the CN railway overpass from Friday, 2:00 PM to Monday, 5:00 AM.
Ave Papineau southbound in Ville-Marie will have one out of two lanes partially closed between rue Sainte-Catherine and boulevard René-Lévesque from May 12 to 23.
In Beauharnois, on Highway 30 in the Madeleine-Parent bridge sector, partial closures are planned from Friday, 8:00 PM to Monday, 6:00 AM. But fear not, there will always be at least one lane in each direction open.
In Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, on Highway 530 eastbound, exit 5 will be completely closed from Friday, 8:00 PM to Saturday, 1:00 AM and from Sunday, 6:00 AM to Monday, 6:00 AM.
Lastly, here’s a bit of insider info: the REM network will be completely hibernating every Saturday and Sunday in May due to the latest commissioning phases.
On Highway 15, Mobility Montreal reminds us that one out of three lanes will be closed in each direction until December. On Clément Bridge, one lane in each direction will be open for contraflow traffic until December. In the eastbound direction, exit 5 towards the Sisters' Island will also be closed until mid-May.
That about covers it, gang. Watch out for these closures, and plan your routes accordingly. And if you're ever in Ottawa, their nearby areas might have some construction impacts, but no specific disruptions are highlighted for May 12-13, 2025. Stay savvy and safe on the roads!
