New Management at Munich Hofbräuhaus's Main Floor: "Extremely Satisfied" with the Switch
New Director for State Hofbräuhaus Munich: Dr. Jörg Lehmann
Dr. Jörg Lehmann, a renowned figure in the German beer industry, will take over as the new director of the State Hofbräuhaus Munich starting January 1, 2026. The announcement was made by Bavarian Finance and Home Affairs Minister Albert Füracker.
The State Hofbräuhaus Munich, a symbol of coziness, tradition, and excellent beer, is a mix of tradition, modernity, and a little bit of myth. It is one of the few breweries in Munich that is still entirely in Bavarian hands, making it a significant part of the local culture and economy.
Dr. Lehmann brings with him a wealth of brewing experience, having held several prominent roles in the German beer industry. He is currently the speaker of the board of Kulmbacher Brauerei AG and has previously served as Technical Director and later CEO of Paulaner Brewery Group, Chairman of the Supervisory Board at Kulmbacher Brewery AG, and President of the German Brewers Association from 2017 to 2023.
Füracker praised Dr. Lehmann's extensive experience, saying, "I am pleased that the State Hofbräuhaus Munich will continue to be led by a competent and experienced manager." He also expressed his sincere thanks to the outgoing director, Dr. Michael Möller, for his outstanding work at the State Hofbräuhaus since September 2000. Möller will be retiring at the end of the year.
The State Hofbräuhaus Munich is a state-owned enterprise and a legally dependent part of the state administration under the supervision of the Bavarian State Ministry of Finance and for Home Affairs. It is an important image carrier for tourism in Bavaria and the Bavarian beer market at home and abroad. The positive development of the State Hofbräuhaus over a quarter of a century is inseparably linked to Dr. Michael Möller.
With branches on three continents, the State Hofbräuhaus Munich is one of the oldest companies in the region. Its consistent profits contribute to the state budget through profit contributions, making it a valuable asset to Bavaria.
Füracker concluded by praising the State Hofbräuhaus as a symbol of coziness, tradition, and excellent beer, and expressed his confidence in Dr. Lehmann's ability to lead the historic brewery into the future.
