New Roundabout and Street Lights Enhance Safety Around State Secondary School
The local building and construction department has completed two infrastructure projects worth 1.7 million euros to enhance safety and traffic flow around the new State Secondary School. The projects include a news roundabout and improved street lighting along the school route.
The news roundabout, constructed to handle increased traffic volume, features a central island with a diameter of 27 meters and traffic lanes that are 6.50 meters wide. It cost 1.7 million euros and involved using 3,800 square meters of asphalt base and surface course, 1,800 square meters of asphalt binding course, 500 meters of curb, and 950 meters of granite kerbstones.
The new street lighting along the school route cost 100,000 euros in total, with 65,000 euros spent on the main route and 35,000 euros on the flood channel path. The project required relocating medium-voltage power cables.
The total project costs amount to 1.7 million euros, with an expected state subsidy of up to 80 percent. The news roundabout and lighting are set to improve safety and traffic flow around the school, providing a safer learning environment for students.
