Nigeria Averts Fuel Crisis: Dangote Refinery, PENGASSAN Settle Dispute

The Nigerian Federal Government has successfully mediated a labour dispute between Dangote Refinery and the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN), ensuring fuel supply stability. The conciliation, led by Minister of Labour and Employment Mohammed Maigari Dingyadi, resulted in a resolution that benefits both parties.

The dispute, which threatened to disrupt fuel supply, was resolved through a conciliation meeting attended by senior government officials. The Minister of Labour and Employment played a crucial role in bringing both parties to an agreement.

Dangote Refinery has agreed to reabsorb disengaged workers into other Dangote Group companies, ensuring no loss of pay. This decision was welcomed by PENGASSAN, which subsequently called off the strike. Both parties have committed to adhering to the understanding in good faith and respecting workers' right to unionise, with no victimisation of involved workers.

The successful resolution of the labour dispute between Dangote Refinery and PENGASSAN ensures the continuity of fuel supply in Nigeria. The agreement, reached through government mediation, demonstrates a commitment to fair labour practices and the protection of workers' rights.
