Nixon Peabody partner transitions to RPC following a five-month tenure

In a significant move for RPC, Hilda Chan has been appointed as a partner in the firm's Hong Kong office. This expansion comes as RPC has been growing its corporate practice across Asia, with recent additions in both Hong Kong and Singapore.

Hilda Chan brings with her 15 years of experience in corporate capabilities, having previously worked at Sidley Austin, Dorsey & Whitney, Nixon Peabody, and Troutman Sanders. Her most recent move was from Nixon Peabody, where she spent a brief five-month stint before joining RPC.

Charles Allen, head of RPC's Hong Kong office, expressed his enthusiasm about Hilda Chan's appointment, describing her as commercially minded, collaborative, and well-respected in the market. He believes that her practice, which focuses on M&A, private equity, capital markets, restructurings, and general corporate advisory matters, is highly relevant to RPC's strategic ambitions.

Moreover, Hilda Chan's technology practice, with a focus on data privacy, cybersecurity matters, and emerging company transactions, adds a valuable dimension to RPC's offering. This comes at a time when PRC client activity is regaining momentum, and RPC is reintroducing a dedicated China offering with Hilda Chan's addition to its team.

With Hilda Chan's arrival, RPC now has 11 partners based permanently in Hong Kong, adding depth to the firm's corporate capability. Last year, the Singapore office recruited M&A partners Kiat Wee Lau and Kenneth Leong from local firm Quahe Woo & Palmer. RPC has been expanding its corporate practice across Asia in recent years, with these strategic additions strengthening its position in the region.

Despite our efforts to find more detailed information about Hilda Chan's career history, timeline, significant achievements, or her recent move to RPC, publicly available data remains scarce. However, her impressive background and expertise are expected to contribute significantly to RPC's growth and success in the region.

  1. Hilda Chan's technology practice, with a focus on data privacy, adds a valuable dimension to RPC's offering, as increasing concerns about data privacy in the business sector are being addressed by more stringent laws.
  2. Given her extensive corporate experience and expertise in finance, business, and law, Hilda Chan's appointment is significant, particularly in the context of RPC's growing corporate practice across Asia, especially with the resurgence of PRC client activity.
