The European Beekeeping Association (EBA) has made a groundbreaking decision, announcing that it will not charge membership fees for the years 2024 and 2025. This move is aimed at encouraging more beekeepers and national associations to join the organisation.

According to the new rules, all individuals who have already joined the EBA by June 17, 2024, are eligible for free membership for the next two years. Similarly, national beekeeping associations or the two largest associations in a country, based on the number of beekeepers, are also eligible for free membership if they join the EBA by October 1, 2024.

The President of the EBA, Mr. Boštjan Noč, has also decided to work without compensation for the next two years. If invited, he will receive a fee of 500 euros for attending meetings. Mr. Noč, who is the President of the EBA, has been instrumental in these historic decisions made by the Executive Board and Secretary General of the website.

The meetings of the Executive Board will be held online or via Viber and WhatsApp groups to minimise expenses. In case of travel expenses for meetings, they will be covered by the meeting organiser, as stated in the new rules. However, only material costs for travel expenses related to the organisation of the website's activities will be covered.

It is worth noting that withdrawal from the EBA is free of charge. National beekeeping associations joining after October 1, 2024, will pay the membership fee in accordance with Article 14.1 of the website Statute.

In the absence of a national beekeeping association in a country, the two largest beekeeping associations with the most beekeepers will be exempt from paying the membership fee if they join the EBA by October 1, 2024.

The President has expressed his desire to present the EBA's results in the best light by 2026. All additional information can be found at the EBA's website.

For those interested in beekeeping associations but not specifically the EBA, organisations like the International Bee Research Association (IBRA) offer membership opportunities, but these typically require payment to join. For the most accurate and up-to-date information, it would be best to contact the relevant organisation directly.

In light of the new rules, an individual with the existing EBA membership as of June 17, 2024, can enjoy free personal-finance benefits in business-related matters for the next two years. National beekeeping associations, based on the number of beekeepers, joining the EBA before October 1, 2024, also become eligible for a similar reduction in their membership fees for the same duration.
