Nordstrom appoints Neiman Marcus veteran as head of luxury styling services.
Scattered Glimpses
Saturday saw Catherine Bloom, a renowned personal stylist, hop aboard Nordstrom's bandwagon, stepping into her new role as the director of luxury styling.
Nordstrom is planning to makeover its Nordstrom Local outpost on Melrose Place in Los Angeles, transforming it into a dedicated storefront for Bloom and her clients - the signature style haven, Catherine Bloom for Nordstrom. Bloom will also team up with Nordstrom's staff for their buying trips in March, according to a company communique sent to Retail Dive.
Bloom, who previously shone as a personal stylist at Neiman Marcus' "Bloom's Room" in Beverly Hills, boasted an international clientele consisting of celebrities, athletes, and executives. Blooming with Neiman Marcus since the tender age of 18 in a part-time capacity, she's now catapulted herself into the Nordstrom bubble.
Celebrating the occasion, Bloom expressed, "Gazing upon Nordstrom morph and metamorphose, I can't help but feel it's the right time to lend my luxury know-how to their narrative."
Pete Nordstrom, the Chief Brand Officer, compared Bloom to a superstar of personal styling, the likes of Michael Jordan. "We promise to shower Catherine with every resource she needs to continue catering to her clientele, attract fresh faces, and fortify our team's mission to elevate personal styling at Nordstrom," he asserted.
Erik Nordstrom, the CEO, once underlined the significance of personal styling when Nordstrom shut down its Trunk Club subscription service in 2022. "I'd like to stress, this move reflects our unwavering dedication to styling and our eagerness to grow and invest in these services," Erik stated during the shutdown.
In a subsequent move, the company launched its Stylist Ambassador program, recruiting stylists from its top 20 markets to function as influencers.
While Bloom is set to spruce up the personal styling front, Nordstrom has seen its most significant success in its off-price Nordstrom Rack unit. Erik Nordstrom had previously pinpointed new Rack locations as a "growth driver" and deemed them an "excellent investment." In the preliminary fourth-quarter earnings, the company reported that net sales almost increased by 5% during the holiday season. The company's namesake brand saw net sales ascend by 3.7%, while Nordstrom Rack sales surged by 7.4%.
As Nordstrom continues to venture into realms of digital innovation and assortment improvements, its focus remains divided between elevating personal styling services and amplifying Nordstrom Rack's growth.
