North and South Block Buildings to Become World's Largest Museum

The iconic British-era North and South Block buildings are set to undergo a significant transformation. The government has plans to repurpose them into one of the largest museums in the world, following the relocation of the Ministry of Finance to the Common Central Secretariat (CCS). The process is underway, with Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman set to take charge of her new office at the CCS on October 2, coinciding with Vijaydashami.

The relocation involves moving highly confidential files, sensitive records, and office furniture to the CCS. The Department of Expenditure has already made the transition, with the remaining wings of the Finance Ministry expected to complete their relocation by October 2. North Block is slated to be completely vacated by October 20, ahead of Diwali. The Finance Ministry has been allotted offices on the fourth, fifth, and sixth floors of CCS-1, with the Budget press likely to operate from the ground floor. Meanwhile, the repurposing of the North and South Block buildings into a museum is expected to preserve their historical significance for future generations. However, the responsible authority for this repurposing remains unknown, as no news was found in the search results.

The relocation of the Ministry of Finance to the CCS is progressing smoothly, with the Finance Minister set to start work in her new office on October 2. The historic North and South Block buildings, once vacated, will be transformed into one of the largest museums in the world, adding a new chapter to their legacy.
