Comdirect, a German bank with an AAA rating, has rolled out an enticing offer for new customers seeking higher returns on their savings. The bank's daily money account (Tagesgeldkonto) now offers an annual interest rate of 3% p.a. on deposits, a significant boost from the current manageable rates.

This high interest rate, guaranteed for six months, is applicable to deposits up to one million euros. The interest is paid quarterly, allowing for compound interest effects that can enhance the growth of savings.

To qualify for this rate, new customers must open both a checking and this savings account with Comdirect. There are no account maintenance fees, no fixed contract period, and no minimum or maximum deposit requirements beyond the interest cap.

Existing Comdirect customers can still benefit from the offer, but at a lower rate of around 0.75% p.a. for new deposits and amounts above €1,000,000.

It's important to note that the offer is only available to new customers who have not had an account or deposit with Comdirect in the past six months.

In addition to the daily money account, Comdirect offers two other accounts: a daily money account with a checking account, and a daily money account with a deposit. The checking account is free for the first six months, but after that, a fee of 4.99 euros per month may apply if it's not cancelled. Opening a checking account with a daily money account can earn an additional 0.25 percentage points on the interest rate.

Meanwhile, Postbank offers an instant access account with an interest rate of 2.5% p.a., but with a six-month guarantee and a minimum deposit of 2,500 euros, due by August 11, 2025. However, it's worth noting that money coming from a Deutsche Bank group account or deposit (Deutsche Bank, Postbank, Norisbank, BHW Building Society, DWS) is not eligible for the special conditions of the Postbank instant access account.

Norisbank, another German bank, offers a competitive 3.11% p.a. interest rate for new customers with a current account on their instant access account, guaranteed for three months.

In the current economic climate, these offers provide a welcome respite for savers looking to maximise their returns. However, it's always advisable to thoroughly review the terms and conditions before making a decision.

The banking industry, with Comdirect at the forefront, is addressing the needs of personal-finance seekers by offering attractive interest rates on savings accounts. To capitalize on this, new customers can open both a checking and a savings account with Comdirect, avoiding maintenance fees and contract obligations, and earning an elevated interest rate of up to 3% p.a. on the daily money account, compared to modest rates typically seen in the banking-and-insurance sector.
