Oil extraction giant KMG surpasses milestone, successfully pulling out a staggering 9 million tons of crude oil.
In a significant achievement for Kazakhstan's oil industry, the Dunga oilfield has recently surpassed a total oil production of 9 million tons since its start of operations. This milestone was announced by KazMunayGas (KMG), the national oil and gas company, on August 1, 2025.
The first half of 2025 saw the Dunga oilfield produce an impressive 340,000 tons of oil, surpassing its production plan by over 7,000 tons. This year's target for the Dunga oilfield's oil production is set at 649,300 tons, up from 630,000 tons in 2024, indicating a steady increase in output.
The success of the Dunga oilfield can be largely attributed to the restoration of the reservoir pressure maintenance system, which has improved the efficiency and output of the oilfield. Maintaining reservoir pressure is crucial for sustaining oil production rates and optimizing recovery, so the restoration of this system has been a key factor in the field's strong performance and record-breaking output.
The Dunga oilfield is operated by Dunga Operating GmbH, with KMG holding a 60% stake. The field is located in the Tupkaragan district of the Mangystau Region of Kazakhstan.
As the Dunga oilfield continues to exceed its production targets, it is poised to make even greater contributions to Kazakhstan's oil industry in the years to come.
