Oil operations resumed at two extraction facilities in Kuban, following a temporary halt.
In an announcement made recently, Russian food ingredient and product manufacturer EFKO has resumed operations at its two oil-extraction plants in the Krasnodar region, located in Kropotkin and Tbilisskaya. The plants, which are owned by EFKO's subsidiary, LLC "Kubanskie Masla," were temporarily closed in March 2025 for maintenance and modernization purposes.
The modernization of the Kropotkin plant, worth 2.5 billion rubles, was completed last year. The Tbilisskaya plant, which can process 1,500 tons of sunflower and also has the capability to process rapeseed, underwent similar upgrades. These improvements were aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and ensuring compliance with updated environmental and safety regulations.
The Kropotkin plant, now operated by EFKO, was acquired in 2021 following the bankruptcy of "YUNK-Agropromyshlennost." The Tbilisskaya plant, on the other hand, has been part of EFKO's operations for some time.
The Kropotkin plant boasts a sunflower processing capacity of 1,700 tons per day, while the Tbilisskaya plant can process 1,500 tons of sunflower. In 2024, EFKO processed a total of 2.9 million tons of oilseeds, marking a 11% increase from the previous year.
EFKO is a significant player in the Russian food industry. In 2024, the company took the second place in the rating of the largest companies in the sector by Infoline, with a revenue of 344 billion rubles. Among the products produced by EFKO are the "Sloboda" brand and Altero vegetable oil.
Prior to the modernization, these plants were oriented towards external trade, which was made difficult due to market volatility and dependence on external factors. However, with the resumption of operations, EFKO has shown its commitment to continuing its operations in the Krasnodar region.
Despite the challenging market conditions, EFKO has no plans to sell the assets of the Kropotkin and Tbilisskaya plants. The company remains focused on its mission to provide high-quality food ingredients, margarines, mayonnaise, and other products to consumers across Russia.
The resumption of operations at EFKO's Kropotkin and Tbilisskaya oil-extraction plants, following modernization, signifies a strategic move in the oil-and-gas industry and the finance sector as EFKO seeks to bolster its presence. Despite the challenging market conditions, EFKO, a key player in the Russian food industry, maintains its commitment to the energy sector and ensures the continued production of high-quality food ingredients. The Kropotkin plant, with a capacity of 1,700 tons per day, plays a crucial role in EFKO's business operations, particularly in the processing of oilseeds, contributing to the company's overall revenue in the finance sector.
