Oktoberfest beer prices edge closer to 16 euros
Oktoberfest Beer Prices to Reach up to €15.80 for a Liter in 2025
Munich, Germany - Inflation and mounting costs for the popular festive event have led to a significant increase in the price of beer at the upcoming Oktoberfest. This year, a liter of beer will cost between €14.50 and €15.80, with premium or specialized beverages such as Spezi costing even more.
The city of Munich, as the organizer of the Oktoberfest, has announced the upcoming price increase. This marks a notable boost from the price range of €13.60 to €15.30 per liter in 2024, and a more than a doubling of the price compared to 2004, when a liter cost between €6.70 and €7.10.
In addition to beer, non-alcoholic beverages are also seeing an increase, with a liter of mineral water costing an average of €10.95, up from €10.48 in 2024, Spezi €12.48 compared to €12.23 last year, and lemonade €12.11, up from €11.67.
Munich Oktoberfest brewers have justified the price hikes, citing the large logistical effort required for setting up and taking down the tents, increased expenses for safety measures, live entertainment, staff wages, and the uniqueness of the festival experience that warrants the higher prices compared to regular taverns in the city, where beer generally costs between €7.70 and €13.40 per liter.
As the organizer, the city of Munich checks the proposed prices to ensure they are reasonable and compares them to local large catering companies. Brewers argue that the price increases are necessary to cover rising costs and maintain the high standards and unique atmosphere that make Oktoberfest a world-renowned event.
The Oktoberfest, which starts on September the 20th and ends on October the 5th, is considered the largest folk festival in the world, attracting an estimated 6.7 million visitors in 2024.

- The employment policy of Munich, as the organizer of Oktoberfest, has been affected by rising costs and the need for increased staff wages to handle the large-scale event.
- To maintain the unique atmosphere and high standards of Oktoberfest, the community policy allows for higher prices for food-and-drink offerings compared to regular taverns in the city.
- As business expenses continue to rise for Oktoberfest, entertainment costs such as live performances and safety measures are included in the justification for the increases in both employment and finance policies.
