Oldenburg Customs Unveils 'Emden', Its New LNG-Powered Patrol Boat

The Oldenburg customs authority is set to launch its new patrol boat, the 'Emden', on October 7, 2025. The inauguration will feature a keynote speech by either Interior Minister Boris Pistorius or State Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Finance, Björn Böhning.

The 'Emden' is a 55-meter single-hulled vessel, equipped with alternative LNG propulsion. It will primarily be used for monitoring cross-border cargo traffic and enforcing customs regulations in the waters around the East Frisian Islands, the German continental shelf area in the North Sea, the exclusive economic zone, and the maritime border with the Netherlands.

The inauguration ceremony will offer opportunities for photography, filming, interviews, and a tour of the customs vessel, providing a closer look at this state-of-the-art addition to the Oldenburg customs authority's fleet.
