Only 14% of German Drivers Satisfied With Electric Car Charging Infrastructure
A recent study reveals that only 14% of German drivers find the charging infrastructure for electric cars very good or good. Meanwhile, 55% consider it poor. The survey also highlights the importance of home charging options and affordable electricity for potential used electric car buyers.
The study, conducted by DEVK, shows a mixed perception of the public charging network among electric car enthusiasts. While 39% rate it as good, 25% find it inadequate. The availability of charging options at home, fast-charging stations, and cheaper electricity are equally important factors for 40% of respondents considering a used electric car.
Only 32% of respondents can generally imagine buying a used electric car. However, this figure rises to 46% among drivers under 30 and 43% among those under 40. The strongest argument for purchasing a used electric car is lower purchase costs, with 39% of respondents agreeing. Over three-quarters of potential buyers also consider the condition of the battery crucial.
The DEVK study underscores the need for improvement in Germany's charging infrastructure to encourage wider adoption of electric cars. While home charging options and affordable electricity are key for used car buyers, only 14% of drivers currently rate the infrastructure as good. Encouragingly, younger drivers show a higher willingness to consider used electric cars.
