Partnership with Waterfall Asset Management and BNP Paribas is extended by Funding Circle for ongoing financial cooperation
The UK-based SME finance platform, Funding Circle, has renewed its partnership with Waterfall Asset Management and BNP Paribas, securing an additional pre-financing commitment of £750 million. This renewal comes in addition to the £1.6 billion of forward funding already in place.
The agreement is a testament to the quality of Funding Circle's platform, which has extended £1.1 billion in credit to UK businesses in its half-year 2025 results. The renewed partnership includes a forward funding commitment of £750 million, further bolstering Funding Circle's ability to support small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) via both its commercial and government lending programmes.
Since 2018, Waterfall has provided over £3 billion in total lending through Funding Circle. James Cuby, head of Europe at Waterfall, expressed his admiration for Funding Circle's track record and expertise in enabling investors to access this asset class and support borrowers with much-needed access to finance.
Meanwhile, Funding Circle has also secured a £230 million credit facility from Citi, and closed a £200 million forward flow agreement with Deutsche. Dipesh Mehta, chief capital officer at Funding Circle, stated that these facilities will enable Funding Circle to continue as a crucial source of finance for UK small businesses.
In its half-year 2025 results, Funding Circle reported an impressive 17% rise in revenues, and a pre-tax profit of £6 million. These financial gains underscore the platform's robust performance and its continued commitment to supporting UK businesses.
The details of the credit facility provided by Citi were not specified in the article. However, the renewed partnership with Waterfall Asset Management and BNP Paribas, along with the other funding commitments, underscores Funding Circle's strong position in the SME finance market and its ability to secure significant investments to support UK businesses.
