Preparing Construction of a Hotel in Serbia by Kazakhstan
Kazakhstan and Serbia Strengthen Ties with Hotel Complex Investment, Education Collaboration, and Transport Route Expansion
Kazakhstan and Serbia have agreed to collaborate on several initiatives aimed at boosting business, cultural ties, and tourism between the two countries. One of the key projects involves Kazakhstan's investment in a multifunctional hotel complex in Belgrade, Serbia, to enhance the country's tourism infrastructure.
Vice-Minister of Tourism and Sports Yerzhan Yerkinbayev announced the hotel project, which is expected to be a new addition to Serbia's tourist map and attract more tourists, creating new opportunities for interaction. The hotel complex is intended to serve as an important catalyst for expanding business and cultural ties between Kazakhstan and Serbia.
In the field of education, Kazakhstan proposed an academic partnership between the International University of Tourism and Hospitality in Turkestan and Singidunum University in Belgrade. This collaboration would involve student and faculty exchange programs, joint research projects, and participation in events such as the Kazakhstan International Tourism and Travel Exhibition scheduled for April 2026.
Regarding transport, both countries are exploring extending the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route to Serbia. Plans are advancing to launch direct flights between Astana (Kazakhstan's capital) and Belgrade, operated by SCAT Airlines, with possible onward routes to Morocco, Tunisia, Barcelona, and Larnaca. This would improve connectivity and facilitate trade and tourism exchanges.
To further deepen bilateral cooperation, a trade and economic mission to Serbia is planned, as well as the creation of the first Kazakhstan-Serbia Business Council later in 2025. Serbian tour operators have also been invited to participate in the large international exhibition "Tourism and Travel" to be held in Almaty in April 2026.
All agreed-upon arrangements were formalized in a protocol, with the next intergovernmental commission meeting planned in Serbia in 2026. Close cooperation in the field of education was also discussed during the meeting, with a focus on allowing students and teachers to exchange experiences, participate in joint research, and strengthen academic ties.
