Proposed 32-meter-tall industrial structure to establish a substantial warehouse in Gütersloh area, spurring debates among locals
High-Bay Warehouse Expansion Planned by Groku Plastics in Stukenbrock
Manufacturing company Groku Plastics plans to construct a second high-bay warehouse in the industrial area of Stukenbrock, Gütersloh District. This development stems from positive business growth in recent years, as stated by Managing Director Henrik Großekaemper. He explains that the expanding intricacy of business operations, characterized by smaller order sizes, diversified product range, shrinking delivery times, and the need for end-to-end traceability in the supply chain necessitate increased storage capacity and an automated logistics system.
The current high-bay warehouse stands at 40 meters, while the planned structure will reach 32 meters. Both warehouses are designed to be interconnected via a four-meter-wide bridge above Augustdorfer Street, allowing for automated handling of goods between facilities.
However, the expansion project faces challenges pertaining to the building's proposed height. City planner Dirk Tischmann has reported that the building ordinance does not accommodate such a tall structure at the specified location. He further indicates that local institutions and citizens can submit objections during amendment procedures, which have already received tentative support from politicians.
A primary cause for concern is the potential impact on the visual landscape and property values. Some residents might also object to the increased noise levels or the planned bridge's effect on the local environment. The new complex is scheduled to connect via Konrad-Zuse-Straße.
The city council will convene in their next meeting to discuss whether and how to proceed with the amendment procedure. To address potential issues, feasibility studies should be conducted to evaluate the project's structural integrity, environmental impact, and compliance with local regulations. Public consultations may also be necessary to gather feedback and address community concerns.
By carefully addressing these issues, the company aims to ensure a smooth development and execution of the project.
The expansion of Groku Plastics' manufacturing operations in the Stukenbrock industrial area includes plans for a second high-bay warehouse, necessitated by increased finance requirements due to smaller order sizes, a diversified product range, shrinking delivery times, and the need for end-to-end traceability in the supply chain. however, the proposed height of the new warehouse faces challenges as it conflicts with current building ordinances, potentially affecting the visual landscape, property values, noise levels, and the local environment.
