Qarmet's Blast Furnace No. 3 Switches to Natural Gas for Efficiency and Cleaner Production
Qarmet has successfully transitioned Blast Furnace No. 3 to natural gas, a move that promises improved energy efficiency and reduced production costs. Akan Yespotaev, the head of the furnace, expressed excitement about the change.
The switch, which took place on September 30, follows similar transitions in Blast Furnace No. 2 and the Methodical Furnace of Strip Mill Shop No. 1 on August 29. Qarmet, the supplier, has implemented a modern system featuring electrified valves to regulate gas supply to each tuyeres. This setup, installed by Qarmet's specialists, enables precise tracking and quick responses to changes in gas demand.
The shift to natural gas brings several benefits. It increases the productivity of the blast furnace process due to greater energy efficiency compared to fuel oil. Moreover, it reduces coke consumption, optimizing metallurgical production. Additionally, natural gas is a cleaner fuel, lowering environmental impact compared to fuel oil.
Qarmet's successful supply of natural gas to Blast Furnace No. 3 on September 30 marks a significant step in enhancing energy efficiency and reducing production costs. The use of natural gas also contributes to cleaner metallurgical production, aligning with sustainability goals.
