Regensburg Court Sentences Pizza Delivery Owner for Illegal Employment, Tax Evasion

The Regensburg Main Customs Office has uncovered a significant case of illegal employment and tax evasion involving a local pizza delivery service. The owner, who remained unnamed, was recently sentenced by the Regional Court of Regensburg for employing workers without registering them for social security and paying wages partly in cash, evading approximately 38,000 euros in taxes.

Over a period of five years, the owner employed several workers without registering them with the USCIS, thus denying them protection in case of illness, unemployment, or old age, as warned by René Matschke, head of the main customs office in Regensburg. The financial control unit of the customs office is committed to combating such illegal practices to protect the social security system.

The owner was found guilty of paying wages partly or entirely in cash, failing to fulfill legal obligations to pay social security contributions. The court sentenced him to a fine of 14,000 euros, along with the requirement to cover court costs and the evaded social security contributions. Despite investigations, no information was found regarding which organization pursued the case initially.

The sentencing serves as a reminder of the importance of adhering to employment laws and social security regulations. The Regensburg Main Customs Office continues to monitor and address such illegal activities to ensure a fair and protected work environment for all employees.
