Mercedes-Benz Trucks' novel electric long-haul truck, the eActros 600, created a buzz in Saxony-Anhalt yesterday. The 30-kilometer journey, involving both the truck and the trailer, was accomplished solely on public roads - but in a unique manner: it was traveled in reverse.

Reversin' the Road, Electrifyin' the Scene: Mercedes-Benz eActros 600's Spectacular Reverse Drive

In a striking display of electric power and traffic safety, the Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 made a splash in Saxony-Anhalt yesterday. This long-haul electric truck, fresh from Mercedes-Benz Trucks, traveled approximately 30 kilometers in reverse on public roads, from Oschersleben to Halberstadt, under police escort. The journey, filled with cheers and applause, concluded at the new Global Parts Center of Daimler Truck in Halberstadt, a venue that will soon become a keystone for the manufacturer's global spare parts supply.

The route to Halberstadt started with a record-breaking, uninterrupted reverse drive of 124.7 kilometers on the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben racetrack. This electrifying spectacle aimed to draw attention to the future of transportation, traffic safety, and the prestige of truck drivers. With support from Blicki e.V. and PROFI - Pro Driver Image e.V., Mercedes-Benz Trucks remains vocal about these topics' significance to the industry and society.

Berlin-area resident and military officer Marco Hellgrewe (50), a devoted truck enthusiast, steered the eActros 600 throughout the journey – first on the racetrack and later on federal and state roads. Overwhelmed by the experience, Hellgrewe shared his gratitude: "Driving a long distance in reverse on public roads, powered electrically, with a truck and trailer – and with the electric flagship eActros 600 from Mercedes-Benz Trucks… it feels almost like my second home. I owe a debt of gratitude to Mercedes-Benz Trucks, the police, and all the other supporting parties involved. I'd especially like to thank the city of Halberstadt, which has been a dedicated supporter throughout this venture from the start."

Daniel Szarata, Halberstadt's Mayor, lauded the performance: "Mercedes-Benz Trucks has brilliantly demonstrated the truck's capabilities with this action. The brand with the star has also sent a strong message about traffic safety and professional driver appreciation. I extend my heartfelt congratulations to Marco Hellgrewe and Mercedes-Benz Trucks on this extraordinary achievement. Halberstadt was more than happy to participate in this action, as our partnership with Daimler Truck is a brilliant success story that we're proud to be part of."

Stefan Türk, the site manager for the Global Parts Center of Daimler Truck in Halberstadt, expressed his delight: "Our attention-grabbing reverse drives proved that we've arrived as a new neighbor in Halberstadt with a bang – even before our official opening in July. Marco Hellgrewe impressed us with his driving skills and partnership. We thank him, along with everyone else involved, especially the city of Halberstadt, with great appreciation. This action symbolizes the spirit we aim to embody at this site: innovation, cooperation, and enthusiasm for logistics and transport. We eagerly await the grand opening in July and anticipate a bright future in Halberstadt."
