Russia Boosts Minimum Wage by Over 20% in 2026
Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin has announced a significant increase in the minimum wage. Starting January 1, 2026, the minimum wage will rise by over 20%, benefiting around 4.5 million people.
This increase is based on the Minimum Wage Order (MROT), which is also used to calculate other payments like vacation pay and sick leave. The MROT will rise to 27,093 rubles, a substantial boost from the current rate.
President Vladimir Putin, who has previously emphasized that the MROT already surpasses the living minimum, has supported this decision. The government's focus, as stated by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, is on continually increasing people's incomes.
