SAF-HOLLAND Group showing signs of expansion

In the opening months of 2024, Dutch trailer and truck component supplier, SAF-HOLLAND, announced two strategic acquisitions aimed at boosting its growth and expanding its product portfolio.

The first acquisition is that of the Dutch exclusive distribution partner, IMS Group B.V., which secures the exclusive distribution of SAF and Holland brands in the OEM and aftermarket segments in the Benelux region. This move strengthens SAF-HOLLAND's presence in the Benelux countries and further bolsters its OEM and aftermarket activities. The acquisition also includes European distribution rights for ALEXRIMS aluminum wheels and VSE electrohydraulic steering systems, expanding the portfolio of mechanical steering system brands Green Steering and SEM.

The second acquisition is of Tecma Srl, an Italian manufacturer of special axle systems and chassis. Tecma, with around 60 employees, operates in close collaboration with vehicle manufacturers to produce custom-made solutions for special vehicles and heavy-duty applications. This acquisition reinforces SAF-HOLLAND's leading position in the commercial vehicle industry as a one-stop-shop provider for chassis-related applications. It also expands SAF-HOLLAND's product portfolio for special vehicle applications, catering to customer-specific requests, such as axles with a high load capacity of 80 tons or more.

SAF-HOLLAND Benelux, operating under the umbrella of SAF-HOLLAND, offers innovative, sustainable, and efficient solutions for the transport industry with its mechanical and hydraulic steering systems. The company's Green Steering's patented cable steering modules ensure optimal maneuverability, improved maneuverability, and consistent steering behavior, reducing fuel consumption, tire wear, and consequently, kilometer costs, fine dust emissions, and CO2 emissions.

The acquisition of Tecma Srl is a testament to SAF-HOLLAND's strict mergers & acquisitions strategy, securing profitable growth and unlocking further potential, especially through SAF-HOLLAND's global sales organization and joint purchasing. The goal of acquiring Tecma Srl is to further strengthen SAF-HOLLAND's position in the commercial vehicle industry.

These acquisitions are expected to expand SAF-HOLLAND's business significantly. SAF-HOLLAND SE, the CEO of SAF-HOLLAND Group, expressed his enthusiasm about the strategic moves, stating that they are crucial steps in the company's growth strategy.

[1] It is worth noting that SAF-HOLLAND also made a significant move in 2024 by acquiring the outstanding stake in the Haldex joint venture with the Anand Group. This move aims at regional growth and portfolio localization in India, strengthening SAF-HOLLAND's market position in that region and broadening their product offerings specific to the Indian market.

For more detailed financial or strategic impact analysis, publicly available data is limited, but this stake acquisition clearly aims at regional growth and portfolio localization.
