Dollar General Invites Small Businesses to Become Vendors

Dollar General, the national discount retail company, is encouraging small businesses to apply to become vendors or service providers through their Small Business Development Program (SBD Program). To become a vendor, businesses must follow Dollar General's vendor registration and approval process.

The process generally involves submitting detailed vendor information, meeting packaging and EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) requirements, and complying with Dollar General's terms and conditions. Key steps include registering as a vendor on the DG partner site, submitting product and business information for review, following Dollar General's guidelines for packaging and EDI compliance, completing any required documentation such as Packaging Briefs, and undergoing a qualification and approval process by Dollar General.

However, it's important to note that no specific deadline or meeting details for the 2025 DG Small Business Development Program have been announced. To find exact dates and meetings, direct contact with Dollar General's vendor management or a visit to their official website is advised.

Dollar General has had success partnering with small businesses in the past, with companies like Milo's Tea Co. being awarded Dollar General's Small Business Supplier of the Year in 2023 and 2025. Kiss Products Inc., a global leader in professional-quality beauty products and treatments, also received the award in 2024.

Entrepreneurs are encouraged to submit applications to Walmart's Open Call 2025 by July 25. For those interested in the produce industry, Wakefern Food Corp. is seeking northeastern growers to join its network of suppliers and take part in a Produce Local Supplier Summit on July 9.

The SBD Program offers opportunities for learning and development, product discovery resources, access to funding, counseling, and training, financial enablement programs, and various engagement events. Selected companies will be notified by email with the date and time of their meeting by Aug. 1.

Virtual meetings with Dollar General's Small Business Development (SBD) Program and merchandising teams are expected to begin in late August.
