Shiba Inu Coin (SHIB) Revival Speculation arises from 30% Increase in New Wallet Holdings

The cryptocurrency market has been abuzz with the recent surge in Shiba Inu (SHIB) wallets and institutional accumulation, leading to a spike in market activity. However, despite these positive signs, the price of SHIB has yet to see a lasting positive momentum.

Institutional accumulation has been on the rise, with exchanges like Bybit holding reserves of 2.94 trillion SHIB tokens, and Robinhood and Binance holding tens of trillions more. This accumulation indicates growing confidence or speculation around SHIB’s long-term potential.

Ecosystem developments have also been supporting network activity. Upgrades to Shiba Inu’s Shibarium layer-2 solution and expansion to new blockchains have boosted daily transactions and token burns. Positive on-chain indicators, such as Chaikin Money Flow and technical patterns, are interpreted by some analysts as bullish signals that could push SHIB price upward.

However, despite these signs, price and demand remain weak overall. SHIB is trading at around $0.000013 in August 2025 and has fallen 16% in the past quarter. Bearish technical indicators are still dominant, and on-chain data shows shrinking investor holdings, declining active addresses, and falling futures Open Interest below $200 million, signalling waning retail interest and market participation.

The ecosystem’s Total Value Locked on Shibarium has dropped to $1.69 million, highlighting low current adoption on its layer-2, which limits utility-driven demand. Additionally, the enormous token supply (over 589 trillion circulating) continues to be a fundamental constraint on sustainable price increases, preventing SHIB from reaching significant valuations despite speculative hype.

In summary, the increase in new wallets and institutional accumulation has stimulated market activity and improved some on-chain metrics, creating a cautious bullish sentiment among some traders and holders. However, overall, Shiba Inu’s price impact has been limited by weak retail demand, abundant supply, lack of strong utility adoption, and bearish market trends in 2025. The token remains vulnerable to price declines even as ecosystem upgrades provide potential future support.

The 50-day EMA is getting closer to a bullish cross above the 100-day EMA, increasing the bullish potential for SHIB. However, for SHIB to sustain its momentum, consistent participation is necessary. As the outcome of SHIB's recent resurgence will be determined by the upcoming sessions, it remains to be seen whether the token can break through the 200 EMA, which may serve as a potential resistance for SHIB, and trigger a 10% increase.
