Solmotion Brings Agri-PV to Southern Germany, First Plants in 2025
Solmotion Project GmbH is actively developing around 400 megawatts of Agri-PV projects in southern Germany. These innovative projects combine agriculture and photovoltaics, with each plant including battery storage and using a single-axis tracking system.
The first of these projects are expected to start generating power this year, with around 100 megawatts planned for next year. One notable plant, located in Greut, will span 10.7 hectares and produce 10 megawatts. In Waldburg, near Lake Constance, two plants are planned with a combined capacity of 18 megawatts. The largest of these, in Neuwaldburg, will occupy 13 hectares and generate 8 megawatts.
Citizens and municipalities can participate in these projects through models such as subordinated loans or the purchase of inverter shares. A by-law resolution for the projects is targeted for next year.
Solmotion Project GmbH is currently in the development phase of these projects, aiming to bring renewable energy to southern Germany while also benefiting local communities through participation models. The details of an innovation initiative, involving 2182 MW of renewable energy facilities awarded in 2025, remain unclear.
