In a troubling turn of events, the CrediX team has vanished following a $4.5 million crypto exploit, leaving investors concerned about the legitimacy of the project[1][4][5]. The project’s website, official Twitter account, and Telegram channel have gone offline or been deleted, and the team has not communicated any recovery plan despite earlier promises to reimburse users.

The exploit occurred on Monday after the Sonic-based protocol was hacked. The attacker bridged the stolen funds to Ethereum and then dispersed them across several wallets, with Tornado Cash used for laundering part of the proceeds[1][3][4].

Initial reports suggested that CrediX had negotiated a settlement with the attacker, who agreed to return the stolen assets within 24-48 hours in exchange for an undisclosed payment from the CrediX treasury. However, no evidence of this reimbursement or a public recovery plan has emerged, and the project’s disappearance has left investors in a state of uncertainty[1][4][5].

Stability DAO, which integrated with CrediX a week ago, viewing it as an additional yield opportunity, has been affected by the CrediX exploit. Their Metavaults, which offer up to 287% in annual yield, have been impacted[6]. Stability DAO is now working with several firms, including Sonic Labs, to gather evidence, trace funds on-chain, and recover lost funds[7].

A member of the Stability DAO team informed users within the official Discord server that CrediX has disappeared and they are working on filing a formal legal report to authorities[8]. GodInMaking, a member of the Stability DAO team, obtained know-your-customer information for two CrediX team members for the legal report[9].

As of the article, Stability DAO has $28 million in total assets, according to crypto data provider DefiLlama[10]. The blockchain security firm CertiK made a statement on Twitter about the CrediX team's disappearance[11]. The latest message from the CrediX team was sent on Telegram on Wednesday[12].

Crypto Blub, a pseudonymous crypto analyst, stated on Twitter that Metavaults are always risky[13]. On Twitter, some onlookers described the episode as an example of why crypto users should be suspicious of DeFi protocols touting astronomical yields[14].

In summary, the CrediX team vanished after the hack, their promise to reimburse users remains unfulfilled publicly, and the incident is widely regarded as a suspected exit scam as of early August 2025[1][4][5]. Stability DAO and other parties are working diligently to gather evidence, trace funds, and recover lost assets in the hopes of bringing justice to the affected investors.
