Stadtwerke Duisburg & Terralayr Partner to Optimize Battery Storage Nationwide
Stadtwerke Duisburg Energiehandel, a significant municipal energy trader in Germany, has partnered with Swiss flexibility provider Terralayr to optimize battery storage facilities and support local utilities nationwide. The cooperation aims to create a comprehensive solution, from development and financing to commercial optimization.
Terralayr will act as a 'storage and reserve energy market access solution', enabling easy integration of battery storage facilities and securing reserve energy marketing. Stadtwerke Duisburg Energiehandel will use the Terralayr platform to manage a portfolio of over 100 megawatts of battery storage facilities.
The joint offer includes optimization of storage facilities, technical integration, potential co-investments, and support in project development. Modern in-house developed quantitative methods and algorithmic trading strategies will be used for cross-market optimization of battery storage. The Terralayr platform will serve as a 'plug-and-play' solution for accessing a reserve capacity pool and infrastructure for trading and controlling a battery storage fleet.
Stadtwerke Duisburg Energiehandel, with over 200 business relationships and managing flexible assets of around 300 megawatts, is planning to develop an offer for local municipal utilities in Germany in cooperation with Terralayr. This partnership aims to strengthen both parties' positions in the energy market by optimizing battery storage facilities and providing comprehensive support to local utilities.
