Kuwait's Amir Unveils Vision for Gulf-US Partnership, Emphasizing Economic Collaboration at Gulf-US Summit

At the Gulf-US Summit in Riyadh, His Highness Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Amir of Kuwait, stressed the crucial role of economic cooperation in the strategic alliance between the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and the United States. During his speech, the Amir expressed his gratitude towards the warm welcome and generous hospitality received from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, and praised the meticulous organization of the summit by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia.

Addressing the audience, the Amir appreciated U.S. President Donald Trump's renewed interest in meeting with GCC leaders and highlighted the significance of mutual cooperation founded on a shared vision for peace, stability, and development. In his speech, the Amir pointed out that throughout the decades, the relationship between the GCC and the U.S. has transformed into a robust strategic alliance, based not just on security collaboration but also on diversified partnerships across various sectors.

Remembering the historic American leadership in the coalition that liberated Kuwait from Iraqi occupation in 1990, an event that remains an indelible memory in the minds of the Kuwaiti people and Gulf nations, the Amir stated, "Our partnership with the U.S. is grounded in the economy, and we aspire to launch joint initiatives focused on smart infrastructure investments, fostering innovation, promoting trade, and supporting small and medium-sized enterprises."

Buoyed by the current level of US-GCC cooperation, particularly in the investment sector with Kuwait, the Amir expressed his desire to expand bilateral projects and strengthen economic ties with Washington, characterizing the U.S. as a crucial ally. Addressing the critical global circumstances marked by escalating tensions, conflicts, and cross-border challenges, the Amir emphasized the GCC’s unified stance in preserving the security and stability of the region, while firmly rejecting any encroachment of their land, waters, and resources.

"Determined to act upon these noble ideals, Kuwait reaffirms its commitment to working with the GCC to achieve shared objectives with the United States through agreements that serve the aspirations of our peoples," the Amir declared.

On the humanitarian and developmental front, the Amir renewed Kuwait's strong commitment to relief efforts for conflict- and disaster-affected communities. He advocated for collaborative US-Gulf development aid to ensure an efficient and sustainable response to the needs of affected communities. The Amir also suggested establishing a Gulf-American forum for educational and cultural dialogue, designed to nurture scientific and joint research programs, empower youth, and encourage values of tolerance, openness, and civic understanding.

Concluding his speech, the Amir further proposed the creation of a Gulf-US forum for cultural and educational dialogue, intended to foster scientific exchange, joint research, youth empowerment, and cross-cultural appreciation.

In relation to the evolving strategic partnership between the GCC and the United States, recent initiatives and goals are multifaceted, mirroring broader global trends and regional strategies. While specific statements from the Amir do not provide extensive details, the partnership generally concentrates on several key areas, such as trade and investment, diversification and innovation, and strategic partnerships. Enhanced cooperation between the two powers is expected to continue on a path of growth and prosperity, focusing on mutual benefits that ensure a long and fruitful relationship.

The Amir of Kuwait, acknowledging the evolving strategic partnership between the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and the United States, emphasized the importance of economic cooperation, particularly in investment, innovation, trade, and small and medium-sized enterprises. In the context of international politics, Kuwait reiterated its desire to collaborate with the U.S. for shared goals, fostering a Gulf-American forum for educational, cultural, and scientific dialogues.
